The amazing beach of Gianiskari belongs to the prefecture of Chania and is one of the most beautiful places to visit during your summer holidays there. It is located at a distance of 74 km away from the city center and the access there is easy. You can go to Gianiskari with a rental car or a motorbike.
Gianiskari beach has a shape of a peninsula that ends up in the sea and offers a magical landscape. There are two beaches in the area which both are enchanting. The beach which is located on the west side has small, beautiful pebbles while the other which is located on the east side has thick sand with an amazing, pale color. Both of them have a crystal-clear sea which is protected from the winds and usually has no waves. In addition, the sea at Gianiskari has a normal depth and good sea bed configuration. However, if you have children in your family you should be very careful because the beach does not offer a lifeguard in order to help you when is needed. Do not also forget to buy a first – aid kit box for emergency situations.
Furthermore, the beach of Gianiskari is not fully – organized but, you will find some amenities in order to have a pleasant day at sea. When you go there, you will meet some umbrellas and sunbeds in order to be protected from the hot, summer sun. In the area, there are also two small canteens where you can buy cold water, coffees, beverages and of course delicious, fresh snacks.
Unfortunately, the beach of Gianiskari does not offer the visitor the opportunity to do water sports because there are no facilities. However, it is ideal for swimming with a mask and fishing.
On the other hand, it is a nudism and camping friendly beach. As a consequence, if you want to stay there for a day or more, you can buy camping equipment and camp on the beach in order to enjoy its fantastic, marine environment. Another important detail about Gianiskari is that it is near the amazing beach of Paleochora.
