Chora Sfakion is 75 km at the south of Chania. It is located in a very inaccessible and rugged area surrounded by the steep slopes of the White Mountains and the numerous gorges that form in them. In the turns of the road that leads to the village, shops and taverns crop up, while behind the mountains dominates the southern Cretan sea.
The area, full of steep cliffs in various formations has a wild, riveting beauty. Fantastic is also the sight of eagles nesting in the rocks and flying reaching a low height. The village is built almost at the end of the gorge of Imbros and has two small ports where the boats moor for Agia Roumeli, Loutro and the island of Gavdos. Chora, is the seat of the municipality of Sfakia, which is the most sparsely populated municipality in Greece.
It is a place full of pride and love for Crete, inhabited by the proud Sfakians, who defied death and became the leaders of many rebellions against the Turks.
