The amazing beach of Mpalos belongs to the prefecture of Chania and is shaped in a gulf, at the northwest shore of the Gramvoussa cape. It is located at a distance of approximately 56 km. northwestward of the city and 17 km. away from Kissamos. Mpalos is also very close to the beautiful beach called Falasarna.
Mpalos is one of the most popular beaches not only in Crete but we could say all around the world. Every year during the summer months, it attracts millions of visitors because it really is a heaven on earth. It has a crystal, blue – green and turquoise water that really makes it look like an exotic beach. You also have to know that the place does not offer accommodation facilities and the camping is forbidden.
It is worth mentioning that Mpalos has been integrated into the ecological Natura 2000 network as a protected area, because of its rare fauna and flora. In the area, there is also a shelter of Caretta – Caretta turtle and the Mediterranean seal.
