Drapanias beach is located at a distance of 34 km from the city center of Chania. Like its neighboring beaches, the beach of Drapanias stretches over a large area that exceeds 2 km. It is essentially the central part of the huge beach that starts from Kissamos and extends to the Rodopi Peninsula.
It has coarse sand and beautiful pebbles in various sizes and colors while the sea is clear with a bright blue color and shallow, although usually wavy.
On the beach there are umbrellas and showers for bathers. Unfortunately, there are no facilities for water sports and cafes, so you should have provided for your supplies. On the contrary, there are taverns where you can enjoy the authentic Cretan cuisine.
It should be noted that though Drapanias is a secluded and not busy beach, camping and nudism are prohibited. In case you want to stay there you have to book a room in a hotel or make a reservation in one of the two organized campsites that exist in the area.
In conclusion, if you are in the area of Chania during your holidays and you prefer a place for peace and relaxation, we suggest you the traditional village of Drapanias with its beautiful beach.
